Description:
Every three hours, a South African woman is murdered in South Africa.
Poet Koleka Putuma's moving words serve as a reminder that 365 days a year, women in South Africa, and all over the world, have the right to be safe and live without fear of violence. We must commit to standing up for the rights of women and girls and continue the fight to end gender-based violence.
In 2015, world leaders agreed to 17 Global Goals (officially known as the Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs). These goals have the power to create a better world by 2030, by ending poverty, fighting inequality and addressing the urgency of climate change. Guided by the Goals, it is now up to all of us, governments, businesses, civil society and the general public to work together to build a better future for everyone.
Join the fight to achieve Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls. Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
Fund the activists on the frontlines. Philisa Abafazi Bethu SA is an organisation fighting for the rights of women and girls in South Africa. Find out more at https://www.philisaabafazi.org/
